2020-03-20 - PROGRESS UPDATE: ST PETERS CHURCH ROPLEY
Work to rebuild fire-ravaged St Peter's Church in Ropley, Hampshire, has made excellent visual progress in recent weeks.
The roof steelwork is in place, with the sizeable roof timbers being installed and the main structure being prepared for the installation of the steelwork needed for the new bell tower. Roof tiles will follow shortly, which will make a significant difference to the building's external appearance.
The restoration of the flintwork is also progressing well, with existing structures being sympathetically repaired alongside the addition of new flintwork and interior brickwork to meet the new roof level.
The stonemasons continue repairs to the windows. Excitingly, we hope that the arrival of Easter will also herald the specialist glaziers from Salisbury Cathedral, to create the restoration templates for the stained glass windows.
We've selected a few images to accompany this update and illustrate recent developments. Do keep checking back for more in due course.
